There is no getting around it for now: English is recognized as an official language in a total of 67 different countries, as well as 27 non-sovereign territories. It is estimated 400 hundred million people have some grasp of speaking English. According to Nation Master, English-speaking countries accounted for $22.11 trillion or 25{fc106c96e4e5265e6c8434a6ac8a898f4e666a082c557e3aad91b858a12eef11} of the World GDP of their surveyed countries in 2012.
It follows that a good command of English – reading, speaking, and writing it – opens the door, almost quite literally, to many opportunities, personal and professional.
English is the lingua franca (common language) of international business. Every time in history has had one. Some say other languages such as Mandarin will soon become more important. We have a healthy scepticism.
It has become necessary for people to speak the English language if they are to enter a global market. Multinational businesses such as Airbus, Daimler-Chrysler, Fast Retailing, Nokia, Renault, Samsung, SAP, Technicolor, and Microsoft in Beijing, have made English their official corporate language. For example, in 2010 Rakuten, a Japanese partnership between Amazon and eBay made it obligatory for their 7000+ employees to be able to speak English.
According to Education First, English is also the language of the internet. More than half a billion people use it every day, and an estimated 52 percent of the world’s most visited websites are displayed in this language. Being able to read over half the content on the internet will expand your horizons to the knowledge that may not be otherwise available!
Cambridge English Certificates
Cambridge English (also known as ESOL), a department of the University of Cambridge offer English exams. They come in various levels of complexity. There are, from the more advanced to the least: Proficiency (CPE), Advanced (CAE), First (FCE), Preliminary (PET), and Key (KET) assessment for your next personal goal with the English Language. They are world-recognized by employers, universities and government ministries as proof of your adeptness to use English.
Engxam: Cambridge English Exams Preparation Online.
This is where Engxam (English Exams) comes in. We are a dedicated online-only exam revision platform for the mastery of English. We help you to feel more confident with the language, though crucially pass these Cambridge exams and succeed.
Engxam was born of the pragmatic understanding that people are expected to do more – improve themselves to give themselves a competitive edge — with an ever-squeezed amount of personal time. As you will know, some people do not have time to go to a language school after work or on weekends. They need something that slots comfortably into the gaps in their schedules.
The platform has more than 100 number versions of these exams:
C2 Proficient (CPE)
C1 Advanced (CAE)
B2 (FCE)
B1 Preliminary (PET)
A2 Key (KET)
A1 Movers (YLE)
Imagine these as a hierarchy from the most advanced (C2) to the more basic (A1). These are what are known as CEFR levels, a way of describing how well you speak and understand a foreign language. These tests reliably standardize what is meant by level ‘beginner’, ‘intermediate’ or ‘advanced’. It makes it easier for all of us to talk about language levels without bias and with a shared understanding.
Confused about which version you need to take? We explain in the ‘Exams’ tab.
C2 and C1 ESOL credentials are also generally a requirement to study in higher education and make you a more viable student candidate. These are the standard to which admission officers will accept that a very high level of skill in the English language has been achieved.
Re-test yourself in a bright, familiar, and trusted online location and succeed at any time and any place. No teachers and no stress, you just need a secure internet connection. Just because there’s no teacher next to you we will support you every step of the way.
Engxam Also Has Much More:
Essay-checking and rating from experts which provide formative feedback on spelling, grammar, punctuation errors, and proper vocabulary. We rate your work on the CEFR scale of A1-C2 too;
Daily Practice Exercise for B2, C1 and C2 tests that only take 15-20 minutes;
A way to improve your speaking skills with videos, as well as real-time online speaking with other students;
Articles, Grammar, and Exercise with a range of clear, concise, and interesting content: how-to’s such as writing a proposal or a report. This section is completely free!
Prices started from only 19.90 euros a month. That’s cheaper than the cost of one lesson in most ESOL classrooms. The display is simple and easy-to-use. As you will see we use ‘traffic-light’ colors: green, yellow and red to advise.
